[ELUG] Investigador discapacitado logra sus sueños gracias al software libre

Este caso es muy interesante, es de un discapacitado Hindú que pudo salir
adelante y realizarse gracias precisamente al software libre.
Este joven investigador tiene una discapacidad visual. El busca hacer
conciencia de los grandes problemas que enfrentan los discapacitados cuando
están a merced del software propietario.
Este investigador dice:
"I am ashamed to use proprietary software that dictates what I can or should
be able to access. A visually disabled person is left at the mercy of the
owners and has to wait for them to recode the software to suit his needs,"

Not being employed, a visually impaired person cannot afford to pay huge
sums of money, every time something needs to be modified,

A pesar que siempre le gustó la tecnología, al principio tuvo que estudiar
arte por la falta de infraestructura para que discapacitados pudiesen
estudiar lo que a él le gusta. Fue su coraje y determinación lo que lo llevó
a lograr sus metas. Gracias a el sofware libre él pudo adaptar interfaces
para trabajar en la computadora.

Krishnakant Mane says that the freedom and flexibility provided by open
source software enables him to work with a variety of interfaces and is
integral to his work at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research.

Trabaja desarrollando software libre para discapacitados. Por ejemplo ahora
está trabajando en software para manejar un display digital.

Besides working on software solutions for the blind, he is also working on
tactile display for the hearing and speech disabled

Trabaja además en la educación. El rechaza el uso del software cerrado y
dice que no se debe malinterpretar como una guerra contra microsoft. La nota
dice tambien:

It frustrates him that people advocate open source software for all the
wrong reasons; they should understand the value of the freedom and
flexibility it offers, he explains.

El software libre promueve y facilita le creatividad en las personas
interesadas en ello. Gracias al software libre este joven Hindú logró
realizar sus sueños. Él hace incapié en que hay que valorar siempre la
libertad y flexibilidad que este ofrece.
